A Timeless Wedding in Vault de Lugny, Burgundy: Chloe & Jak’s Story

Nestled in the heart of Burgundy, France, Chloe and Jak’s wedding was a celebration as romantic as the French countryside itself. The couple chose Vault de Lugny as their dream location—a historic village known for its timeless architecture, breathtaking landscapes, and, of course, its rich heritage in wine and cuisine. As a documentary wedding photographer with years of experience capturing couples around the world, this setting felt like something out of a storybook.

Travelling from my base in Yorkshire to Burgundy was an adventure in itself. I opted for the Eurotunnel, which made the journey feel seamless and allowed me to bring along all the necessary gear for capturing every moment. Although a single drive down may be intense, arriving in the charming village of Montréal (just a few miles from the venue) was worth every mile. Surrounded by rolling vineyards and rustic architecture, Montréal offered the perfect base for Chloe and Jak’s guests, who traveled from England, France, and even Russia to witness their union.

A Historic French Church and the Beauty of Burgundy

The wedding ceremony took place in a quintessentially French church—a building steeped in history, with stone walls that echoed centuries of love and devotion. Vault de Lugny’s architecture provided an incredible backdrop, allowing me to photograph every detail in a natural, unobtrusive style. With its arches, antique wood, and soft natural lighting, this venue allowed for depth and warmth in the images that truly encapsulated the spirit of the day.

Capturing Every Unscripted Moment

From the vows exchanged among friends and family to the tearful glances and joyful laughter, Chloe and Jak’s wedding was filled with genuine emotion. As a documentary wedding photographer, my focus is always on these candid, unscripted moments. I aim to capture the emotions as they unfold—whether it’s a shared laugh between friends over a glass of wine or the look on a mother’s face as her child takes this big step.

And Burgundy, with its romantic aura, only enhanced these moments. The celebration was complete with delicious local cuisine, world-class wines, and a blend of cultures that made the reception both unique and unforgettable.

Why Vault de Lugny in Burgundy is a Wedding Photographer’s Dream
