A Rainy Day Romance: Kirsty-Leigh & Sinead’s Wedding at Leeds Town Hall
Every wedding has its unique magic, but photographing Kirsty-Leigh and Sinead’s wedding at Leeds Town Hall was something truly special. Over 20 years ago, my best friend’s sister had a little girl named Kirsty-Leigh, and little did I know that one day I’d be capturing her wedding! From the moment I found out she was marrying her soulmate, Sinead, I was over the moon and couldn’t wait to play a part in their big day.

Getting to Know Kirsty-Leigh and Sinead
Before the wedding, I arranged an ‘About You’ session in York with Kirsty-Leigh and Sinead. Spending a few hours together, I got to know them as a couple and gained a sense of their vision for their wedding photography. They wanted their wedding day to be intimate and meaningful, while still embracing the elegance and grandeur of a traditional ceremony. Their love story was beautiful, and their excitement and love for each other were evident in every frame.
The Morning of Anticipation
The day began with a buzz of excitement at Kirsty-Leigh’s house. She was joined by her daughter, mother, and mother-in-law as they all prepared for the celebration. As a documentary wedding photographer, capturing these candid moments in the morning is one of my favorite parts of the day. I get to be a “fly on the wall,” capturing the natural interactions, laughter, and priceless one-liners that unfold in such an intimate setting. Moments like these—filled with humor, joy, and a touch of nervous excitement—are what make wedding photography so special.
Leeds Town Hall: A Perfect Setting, Rain or Shine
Leeds Town Hall, with its stunning architecture and timeless grandeur, was the perfect location for Kirsty-Leigh and Sinead’s ceremony. The day may have brought constant rain, but the beauty of Leeds Town Hall is that it offers incredible indoor settings, with its high ceilings, grand staircases, and historic charm. Although we couldn’t capture the outdoor shots we initially envisioned, the town hall provided a spectacular indoor backdrop for the newlyweds. The rain became just another detail that added to the day’s charm—a reminder that love shines, rain or shine.
For any couple considering a wedding at Leeds Town Hall, its versatile spaces and dramatic architecture make it a dream for documentary-style photography. As an international wedding photographer, I’ve photographed in beautiful venues around the world, and Leeds Town Hall stands out for its elegance and adaptability, offering breathtaking settings regardless of the weather.
A Celebration of Love and Joy
Kirsty-Leigh and Sinead’s wedding was a celebration of love, family, and connection. Despite the small guest list, the day felt grand in every way, filled with laughter, heartfelt exchanges, and a sense of joy that was infectious. Watching them say their vows, surrounded by their closest family and friends, was a reminder of the power of love. The intimate ceremony, combined with the striking beauty of Leeds Town Hall, made this a wedding I will never forget.
Why Leeds Town Hall is Perfect for a Destination Wedding
Leeds Town Hall is not only iconic for its architectural beauty but also an excellent choice for couples who want a unique, memorable destination wedding. Whether you’re from Yorkshire or planning a destination wedding from afar, this venue offers a blend of history and elegance that few locations can match.
